COMPETENCES +: recognize competences.

CONTEXT

Individual support services are increasing in Europe with common characteristics: high rates of feminization, low rate of graduates, absence or lack of professional certification, undeclared work and poor working conditions. In the framework of Competences +, individual support services include the activities of daily living, such as bathing or meal preparation, that help dependant people (old, ill, disabled people) to remain comfortably and securely in their own home. Increased lifespan and women occupation rate consolidate the demand of such services and enhance job opportunities. This sector is a challenge for European society. Nevertheless, those jobs are often depreciated and the need of professionalization is established. Employees’ qualifications rate is law and when a family member takes care of a dependant person his/her competences are not recognized. It is important to recognize informal and non formal competences of individual support services providers in order to improve professional qualification process: this is one of the aims of our project.
